Walk to the Sound

A flat, family-friendly stroll from Quilcene down to the head of Hood Canal — tide pools, herons, and water views the whole way.

Not every adventure needs 2,000 feet of climbing. This easy, mostly-flat walk heads from the heart of Quilcene down toward the head of Hood Canal, where the Big Quilcene River meets saltwater. Great for families with little kids getting their yayas out, and beautiful year-round — including winter, when the herons and eagles are easiest to spot.

Bring the whole crew, take your time, and swing into Quilbilly’s on the way back for breakfast or an ice cream.
